Comments: Evergreen flowering tree with needle-like green branchlets. Native to Australia, but introduced into the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia in prehistoric times. The actual leaves of this species are very small and surround the green branchlet at nodes one half to one quarter of an inch apart. Woody cones contain numerous seeds which are spread by wind, water and animals. This species is considered invasive in the more tropical areas of the world.
This species is very salt tolerant and often grows on exposed beaches and in saltwater swamps.
