Comments: Evergreen conifer native to Japan and Taiwan. Leaves are scale-like, blunt, dark-green above, but with white specks on the underside. Branchlets are fan shaped and horizontal. Cones are spherical, one quarter to one half inch in diameter; when mature the cones are reddish brown and deeply furrowed. Bark is reddish brown and flakes of in short strips. Tree to 120' when mature.
