Comments: Evergreen broadleaf native to Ireland and the Mediterranean. Believed to be widespread in Europe before the last ice age. Dark green waxy leaves and gray trunk with round fruit somewhat similar to a strawberry. Fruit of the Pacific madrone is very similar. Specimen tree is 25' tall.
