Comments: Deciduous broadleaf native to Iraq but rapidly spreading to the Mediterranean area. Large deeply lobed dark green leaves, and fleshy fruit. Mature trees to 60' but more commonly bushy and low growing. Figs were one of the first fruits cultivated, and the first brought to the Missions of California. George C. Roeding played an important part in the development of California's Calimyrna fig industry.
